On Saturday, March 19, during Fajr prayer at the Dar Al-Tawheed Islamic Centre in Mississauga, our congregants were subject to a violent attack. Dar Al-Tawheed is our sister organization and we operate under the same Charity Organization.

In a record-breaking pledge, the Muslim community announced $5 million to support the redevelopment of Mississauga Hospital, one of three sites that together comprise Trillium Health Partners (THP), as part of THP’s larger redevelopment plan. Individuals, families, corporations, mosques and community associations from the Muslim community have a long history of giving back to THP and other health care institutions across the country. This marks the largest gift to a hospital by the Muslim community in Canadian history.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, the annual Muslim Arts Festival, MuslimFest, found a way to keep up the annual tradition of showcasing Muslim arts & culture in Mississauga, Ontario.

The spiritual journey of Ramadan will begin the evening of May 5, as millions of Muslims around the world begin 30 days of fasting. While the Muslim population in Canada continues to grow, many Canadians have little knowledge or understanding about the significance of Ramadan, and what the sacred occasion is all about.

Palestinian Canadian Zeana Hamdonah represented the riding of Mississauga Centre, Ontario at Equal Voice’s second Daughters of the Vote gathering in early April 2019, which brought together 338 young women between the ages of 18 and 23, representing each Canadian riding and take their seat in the House of Commons during a historic sitting of the House of Commons. They were addressed by every federal party leader, and engaged with an array of Ministers, critics and advocates.
