It is with profound sadness that the Muslim Awards of Excellence (MAX) heard of the passing of Dr. Fuad Sahin, one of the cornerstones of the Canadian Muslim Community.
Dr. Sahin left his home in Libya for Canada in 1958. Originally from Turkey, he landed in Kingston, Ontario to train as a surgeon and later practiced medicine across northern Ontario before eventually settling in the Niagara region.
It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of IDRF's founder and great friend, Dr. Fuad Sahin.
Update: Muslim Link was informed on November 4, 2019 that Dr. Fuad Sahin has passed away.
Dr. Fuad Sahin was named to the Order of Canada by Governor General Julie Payette on December 29, 2017.
