Centre for Resilience and Social Development (CRSD) is hiring a Youth and Family Worker (Arabic Required) in Ottawa, Ontario.
This position will provide culturally responsive services to diverse and racialized youth and their families in Ottawa.
We are hiring a youth outreach worker to provide evidence-based and culturally responsive community-based services to Black and racialized youth and their families. Youth outreach workers will work collaboratively with mental health clinicians to provide a holistic and systemic approach to address the intersectionality of youth and their families facing social inequities and systemic barriers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Builds relationships with youth and their families from diverse cultural backgrounds in a variety of social settings.
- Provide case management services and connect youth and families with community resources.
- Offer emotional support, mentoring, and guidance to empower youth towards positive social integration.
- Assist with navigating systems such as criminal legal system, education, employment, healthcare, and social services.
- Promote social justice by addressing inequities and advocating for the rights and needs of youth and families.
- Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution for youth and families.
- Understands and integrates knowledge of intergenerational trauma, structural racism, systemic racism, emerging societal needs related to racial equity and anti-racism into their work.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal applicants must have demonstrated effectiveness in a collaborative, fast-paced, highly team- oriented environment yet possess initiative, self-motivation, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently and work with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the racial-ethnic, religious, cultural backgrounds, diverse abilities, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic disparities of the communities we serve.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a relevant social services field.
- Relevant experience working with children, youth, and their families.
- Ability to establish rapport with children, youth, and families in crisis.
- Experience working with diverse communities.
- Candidate must have dedication to the human rights of marginalized groups, such as refugees, immigrants, asylumseekers, disenfranchised groups, and displaced or system-impacted people.
- Excellent organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, and ability to be flexible and prioritize dutiesin a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to collaborate with other partners in the school, family, and community settings.
- Fluency in English is required, proficiency in additional languages will be an asset.
- Must hold a valid driver license and have access to a vehicle.
REPORTING AND COLLABORATION:
Youth Outreach Worker will report to the Outreach Team Lead and Clinical Project Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing holistic services to youth and their families. The youth outreach will beresponsible for the implementation of the TST-R model in coordination with project team, model team, schools, andthe independent evaluator.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: From $25.00 per hour
