[National Council of Canadian Muslims] were disturbed but not shocked by Ontario MPP Lisa Macleod who raised concerns that it was an “egregious incident” that required  “disciplinary measures” for a Remembrance Day service to include a song in Arabic.
People are now saying the quiet part aloud: it is entirely preposterous to suggest that speaking a language like Arabic is tantamount to hate.
This is the same province where only a few years ago a family was run over in London for looking different.
Send a letter to stress that this kind of divisive and deeply inappropriate rhetoric, coming from an elected leader, is utterly unbefitting of anyone trying to lead the people of Ontario.
It fuels harmful stereotypes.
It marginalizes communities.
There is no place for this behaviour in Ontario.
There is no place for this behaviour in Ontario.
There cannot be silence in the face of it.
