Canadian and Palestinian Leaders and Activists Hold Press Conference Addressing Israeli Siege on Gaza Strip and Occupied West Bank
Written by CJPMEJustice For All Canada held our third media event as part of a Press Conference series discussing the ongoing massacre of Palestinians under the Israeli regime.
The conference organized on November 24th, 2023, continued to urge Canada's government to call for a permanent ceasefire and brough attention to the severe human casualties and destruction to infrastructure in Palestine.
Friday November 24th at 7:00AM (GMT+2) marks the beginning of a four day pause of the endless bombardment of Gaza and indiscriminate murder of civilians. Now more than ever, is the time for our government to step up, echo the voice of its citizens, and call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire. More than 12000 civilians have been killed in Gaza, among them over 4000 children. Israeli forces have targeted hospitals, U.N schools, homes, and any civilian infrastructure that is critical to ensuring a basic standard of living for Palestinians. More than one million Palestinians have been displaced in Gaza, that is nearly half the entire population. This is not self defence. This is deliberate targeting of civilians, in essence, a war against civilians. It is critical for our government to work with its international partners in securing an immediate ceasefire and ending the violence in Gaza, Westbank, and Israel. Further, our government must take an active role in providing medical support in anyway possible.
Justice For All Canada and people of conscience continue urging the Canadian government for the following diplomatic actions;
To call for an immediate ceasefire of all hostilities in Israel-Palestine;
To call for an end to the blockade and siege of Gaza
Ensuring the restoration of humanitarian aid and access to the basic necessities of life through providing crucial medical services;
To hold aggressors responsible for mass killings responsible under international human rights law;
To halt the provision of Canadian arms or weapons to the Israeli government.
Justice For All Canada was joined by other human rights organizations, activist and medical professionals at Parliament Hill to highlight the need for Canada to call for permanent ceasefire. The panel also discussed severity of human casualties and destruction to infrastructure, and depletion of medical supplies in Palestine.
Speakers included;
Ahmad Al-Qadi, Advocacy Officer, Justice For All Canada
Gabrielle Fayant, Assembly of Seven Generations
Fahamia Koudram, Board member, Human Concern International
