The Palestine Tribunal on Canadian Responsibility Comes to Ottawa on November 14-15
Written by Palcan TribunalOn November 14 and 15, a people’s tribunal on Canada’s complicity in the genocide and dispossession of Palestinians, including over the last two years in Gaza, will convene at the University of Ottawa’s Human Rights Research and Education Centre.
Over two days, the Palestine Tribunal on Canadian Responsibility will hear from 50 survivor and expert witness testimonies documenting and analyzing the role of Canadian arms transfers, foreign fighters, charities, immigration measures, universities, media, and other institutions in enabling severe violations of international law against Palestinians.
Participants will include witnesses from Gaza Ahed, Taha, and Dr. Hani Bseiso, Ibrahim Abu Saqer, and Mohamed Khrais;
Former and present UN Special Rapporteurs Richard Falk, Michael Lynk, Balakrishnan Rajagopal, and Hilal Elver
Palestinian legal scholars and academics Nadera Shalhoub-Kevorkian, Ardi Imseis, Mazin Qumsiyeh, Ghada Ageel, and Dyala Hamzah
Indigenous scholars and activists Ellen Gabriel, Albert Dumont, Tara Williamson, and Uahikea Maile
Distinguished jurist Mireille Fanon and scholars Francosie Verges and Kamari Clarke
Former UN Undersecretary General Atif Kubursi; former President of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights James Cavallaro
Renowned feminist advocate Shelagh Day
International legal scholars John Quigley and David Whyte
Lawyers leading the litigation against Canadian complicity James Yap, Yavar Hameed, and Shane Martinez
Alongside many other legal experts, journalists, academics, student organizers, and justice advocates.
