OTTAWA, ON – May 26, 2025 – A coalition of Canadian organizations, including the Canadian Muslims Public Affairs Council (CMPAC), the Gazan Canadian League, Amnesty International Canada, Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME), the Rural Refugee Rights Network, Righting Relations Canada, and Sustainable Human Empowerment (SHE) Associates, today announced the launch of a public mobilization campaign aimed at reforming Canada’s Gaza Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) Program.
On Jan. 20, 2025, during a CBC broadcast on the ceasefire in Gaza, Anchor Natasha Fatah dismissed the term genocide during a CBC News interview with Palestinian-Canadian Israa Alsaafin, who was mourning her brother's death in Gaza.
On Thursday morning [December 12, 2024], an important event focused on assisting new Gazan families with settlement and employment opportunities was held at the Turkish Cultural Centre in Kanata.

As part of the National Day of Action to Reunite Gazans Now on November 19, along with vigils held across Canada, representatives from Gazan Canadians, Amnesty International, and Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East spoke at a press conference on Parliament Hill about the struggles of Gazans in Canada to save their family members through Canada's Gaza visa program.
In a press conference held today, Minister Marc Miller said that the government is still pushing to get families of Palestinian Canadians out of Gaza.
