Job and Service Fair Organized for Newly Arrived Gazan Evacuees in Ottawa

The event was organized by Kanata-Carleton MP Jenna Sudds, who also serves as the Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, alongside four dedicated sisters from our community [Kanata Muslim Association] - Sr. Reem Yousef, Sr. Bushra Kashif, Sr. Nadine El-Hawary, and Sr. Afreen Shaikh.

The gathering brought together numerous settlement and support services to help these families establish themselves in their new environment.

About 60 newcomers from Gaza attended the event. Other attendees included Ottawa Centre MP Yasir Naqvi, Nepean MP Chandra Arya, and MP Sameer Zuberi, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Diversity, as well as representatives from the Turkish community.

The fair connected our new neighbours with vital resources such as job opportunities and affordable housing, while also offering hope, solidarity, and a sense of belonging."]

[In a Facebook post about the event MP Chandra Arya stated, "Glad to see many Ottawa organizations who support newcomers to Canada present and providing useful information. Thanks to community activists who worked to pull this off and hopefully the recent arrivals from Gaza get good benefit for this event."
