Toronto GTA 2026 Muslim Youth Fellowship (Muslim Youth Ages 18 to 30)
The Muslim Youth Fellowship, run by the Urban Alliance on Race Relations, is a political and professional skill building program that provides youth located in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) with a 6-month paid placement with Toronto City Council between February to August 2026.
Fellows will work alongside elected officials and City of Toronto staff to gain exposure to various areas of politics through research, advocacy, communications, policy development, and case work.

Eligibility:
- Muslim youth between the ages of 18-30
- Demonstrated sustained civic engagement
- Involvement in community improvement or development
- An understanding of civic issues faced by Muslim communities and the Canadian community at large
- Flexible weekday availability for the duration of the placement, for 8-12 hours per week (part-time) or 35 hours per week (full time)
- Eligible to work in Canada between February to August 2026
Important Information:
Duration of placement: February to August 2026.
Fellows accepted into the fellowship will participate in 4-5 unpaid training sessions. Specific times and dates will be selected based on fellows availability.
Fellows are expected to work either 8-12 hours/per week or 35 hours/per week at the pay rate of a constituency assistant.
Placements are primarily in-person and fellows must be able to commute to any constituency office in the City of Toronto for the duration of the fellowship. There are 25 constituency offices in the City of Toronto and, depending on placement assignment, fellows may be asked to commute to an office in any one of the 25 offices.
By applying to the fellowship, you are agreeing to the possibility of consistently and reliably commuting in-person to any ward that you are placed in. Fellows do not select their placement.
