Invitation to Participate in a Study on Religious Leaders' Perspectives on Mental Health (McGill University)
Are you an Imam? Are you interested in discussing Religion and Mental Health in a friendly and informal research interview?
Dr. Rob Whitley is a researcher in the Psychiatry Department, McGill University, and his research team are examining clergy perspectives on mental health and mental illness.
The aim is to better understand religious leaders' beliefs, attitudes, perspectives and experiences regarding mental health and mental illness, especially regarding any religious counselling given to their congregants. The team is also interested in learning more about the support and training given to clergy in these issues.
As such, we are looking to interview religious leaders (with at least two years experience) about these issues, via Zoom, telephone or in-person.
Interviews can be conducted in English or French, and typically last between 60-90 minutes.
Participation is completely confidential, and participants will be compensated for their time.
The research team have been examining the link between religion and mental health for over 20 years, and all interviews will be conducted with tact, sensitivity and respect.
For more information about the study, or to sign-up, please contact Malka Reich (project manager) or Rob Whitley (principal investigator) in the strictest confidence at: This email address is being protected from spambots.
