Nationwide Call for all Mosques in Canada to Host Majlis ‘Azaa (Gathering to Mourn) on Friday, Jan 26 after Maghreb for Palestine

With the continued unfolding of horrific events in Gaza, our hearts and minds cannot focus on anything else, however, these emotions, ranging from sadness to anger, are signs of a beating heart. The purpose of the Majlis ‘Azaa is to channel these emotions to act courageously in a way that is pleasing to Allah in a safe communal space for everyone to mourn publicly and peacefully for Palestine, all Muslims, and all in need of humanitarian relief.

Many are scared and in fear, however, it is our hope that this public gathering in Allah’s remembrance will help us conquer that fear to pray for our deceased, the less fortunate, and seek Allah’s guidance.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When a group of people assemble for the remembrance of Allah, the angels surround them (with their wings), (Allah's) mercy envelops them, tranquillity (sakinah) descends upon them and Allah makes a mention of them before those who are near Him." Sahih Muslim.
