MRCSSI: Hate Motivated Crime on the Rise Yet National Office of Special Representative on Islamophobia is Dissolved

The initiative was a response to the tragedy of June 6, 2021 yet with your efforts and determination it became proactive — sprouting conversations across Canada.

Amira and her team have done extremely key work in visiting and listening to communities across the country and have developed a key resource and inspired many grassroots activists, communities, leaders, and organizations to join forces to address and respond to Islamophobia.

It’s saddening that OSR has been eliminated despite the rise in hate-motivated crimes and the need for proactive national action. The Muslim Resource Centre for Social Support & Integration (MRCSSI) is grateful and appreciative for your leadership and dedication.

The work to build a nation free from Islamophobia, hate, and racism continues.
