MAC Condemn the Terrorist Attack on the Muslim Community in San Diego
Written by Muslim Association of CanadaMay 20 2026 The Muslim Association of Canada (MAC) is deeply saddened and horrified by the deadly terrorist attack at the Islamic Center of San Diego, where innocent worshippers were targeted in an act of violence and hate.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and the entire San Diego Muslim community grieving the loss of Amin Abdullah, Mansour Kaziha, and Nadir Awad. We pray that Allah (SWT) grants them the highest ranks of Jannah, showers their loved ones with patience and strength, and grants healing to all those affected by this tragedy.
Mosques are sacred spaces of worship, peace, learning, and community. An attack on worshippers in a house of God is an attack on the fundamental values of safety, dignity, and religious freedom that all people deserve.
MAC stands in solidarity with the Muslim community in San Diego and with all communities across the world facing hatred and violence. We also acknowledge and appreciate the efforts of first responders and community members who acted swiftly during this horrific incident.
At a time when Islamophobia and hate-motivated violence continue to rise, we call on leaders, institutions, and communities to take meaningful action to confront hatred, protect places of worship, and foster understanding and unity.
Our prayers are with the victims, their families, and all those impacted.
إِنَّا لِلَّٰهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ “Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.” (Al-Baqarah:156)
