Inspirit Publishes New Report on Muslim Artists across Canada
Written by Inspirit FoundationTORONTO, November 12, 2025 — Inspirit Foundation is excited to share Muslim Artists Live Here, the first-ever report to examine Census data about Muslim artists across Canada.
The report combines quantitative data with case studies to document the experiences of Muslims creatives.
Despite being the second-largest religious population in the country, there is little research about Canadian Muslims in creative sectors.
“Muslim Artists Live Here is the first report of its kind in Canada, documenting this current moment for Muslim artists. It follows the unique challenges, opportunities, and dreams of artists, illuminating their experiences in our artistic and creative landscapes,” said Radiyah Chowdhury, author of the report.
Using Census data compiled by Hill Strategies Research Inc., the report provides statistics on Muslim creatives and representation, geographic distribution, and income. It also includes in-depth analysis based on interviews with Canadian Muslim artists and cultural workers, as well as non-Muslim professionals in the arts and cultural fields.
“Muslim Artists Live Here offers a list of practical recommendations to support Muslims in Canadian creatives industries,” said Chris Lee, Director of Programming at Inspirit Foundation, “And we hope it sparks further research and sector development at a time when the creative industries are facing monumental challenges.”
