Canadian University Student Encampments for Palestine: McGill University

Following the spread of student encampments across universities in the United States, more than 100 students set up over twenty tents on Saturday, April 27.

The students demands are as follows:

DISCLOSE: We demand full financial transparency from the Concordia Investments Committee and the Board of Governors to disclose all investments in companies complicit in the genocide of the Palestinian people.

DIVEST: We demand that McGill and Concordia divest from all companies complicit in the Israeli occupation and genocide of the Palestinian people. McGill and Concordia must cut all ties with Tel Aviv University, Hebrew University, Bar-IIan University, Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Ben Gurion University of the Negev and Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design. McGill and Concordia must cease all cooperation with the Azrieli foundation. McGill and Concordia must cancel all academic courses and exchange programs that normalise relations with the Zionist state

DEFEND : We demand an end to the repression and censorship of Palestine activism on our campuses. We further demand that Palestinian, Arab and Muslim students who have been targeted by racist attacks be defended. There should be no repercussions or disciplinary charges for actions taken by students of McGill and Concordia Universities in support of Palestine. Pending disciplinary charges against students related to support for Palestine activism will be dropped.

DECLARE: We demand that McGill and Concordia Universities immediately publish a statement condemning the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people and calling on the Canadian government to cease all military contracts and implement a two-way arms embargo with the Zionist state. ​​​​​​​

The student groups leading this movement are SPHR McGill and SPHR Concordia.
