Dr. Tarek Loubani—a Palestinian Canadian physician and co-founder of GLIA, a medical solidarity organization—will discuss the systematic destruction of healthcare in Gaza, which has been described by the British Medical Journal as “the paragon of healthocide,” and has involved, according to The Lancet, “at least 772 attacks on health care, with 94% of hospitals damaged or destroyed and more than 1500 health-care workers killed — the highest toll ever recorded.” Dr. Loubani and Professor Sealy-Harrington — the Windsor Law Chair in Palestinian Human Rights in Canada — will discuss Israel’s assault on Palestinian health infrastructure, the relationship between Israel’s destruction of Palestinian healthcare and the genocide in Gaza, as well as how Canadians can support Palestinians against Israeli oppression and for Palestinian liberation.
