June 4, 2026 Toronto, ON A new report by York University’s Islamophobia Research Hub, “Working While Muslim: A Pilot Study of Intersectional Employment and Labour Market Experiences of Muslims in Canada” reveals systemic patterns of marginalization, significant income disparities, and workplace discrimination owing to Muslim religious affiliation.

A task force report commissioned by the Ontario Dental Association (ODA) has concluded that Dr. Jonathan Mayer, a Director at the Association, is responsible for several online posts that are “inflammatory,” “dismissive,” “stigmatizing,” “problematic,” “alienating,” and/or “offensive and divisive.”

Earlier this year, members of the Ontario Dental Association (ODA) organized a petition demanding that the leadership of the ODA address the social media posts made by one of its directors.

The undersigned [National Council of Canadian Muslims] are issuing this statement to express grave concern regarding the harmful public comments allegedly made by a Director of the Ontario Dental Association (ODA), and what we view as the need of the ODA Board to respond with the transparency, urgency, and accountability given what we view as clear breaches of professional standards.
