
Muslim Legal Support Centre Marketing and Communications Coordinator (1-Year Maternity Leave Contract)
The Muslim Legal Support Centre (MLSC) is an innovative organization ensuring Muslims have equitable access to legal services and fair treatment within the legal system. We increase access to justice for Muslims in Ontario through legal information and education, referrals, summary legal advice, and by addressing systemic injustice. MLSC is responsive, community-based, and collaborative, serving low to middle income community members who self-identify as Muslim or are perceived as Muslim.
THE POSITION
MLSC is seeking a Marketing and Communications Coordinator to strengthen our public profile, expand our reach, and connect our community with accessible legal services. The Coordinator will focus on outreach and communications, social media and newsletter efforts, supporting fundraising campaigns, and promoting Public Legal Education (PLE) sessions and Drop-in Clinics. This is a remote role reporting to the Director of MLSC.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Outreach and Promotion: Support program team with flyers, outreach, and promotion to ensure strong attendance at clinics, workshops, and other events.
Communications and Social Media: Plan and publish daily content across MLSC’s social platforms; develop consistent and engaging outreach materials; ensure accessibility and alignment with MLSC’s voice.
Newsletter: Draft, design, and distribute the monthly newsletter highlighting programs, clinics, and upcoming opportunities.
Fundraising Campaigns: Support planning and coordination of fundraising campaigns with a combined target of over $10,000; contribute to messaging, timelines, and promotional efforts.
Reporting and Administration: Track and report on marketing and outreach metrics in collaboration with the MLSC Director; provide insights on campaign performance and adjust strategies as needed.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong communication, writing, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with social media management and digital marketing
- Proficiency with tools such as Mailchimp, Eventbrite, Canva, and major social media
platforms; familiarity with fundraising/donor tools is an asset - Proven Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and deadlines
- Experience with fundraising and community engagement considered an asset
- Commitment to MLSC’s mission of access to justice and equity for marginalized communities, and awareness of issues affecting Ontario’s Muslim communities, including Islamophobia and anti-Black racism

POSITION DETAILS
Term: One-year maternity leave contract
Hours: Part-time, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM, Monday–Thursday
Location: Remote (candidates must have their own computer and reliable internet)
Compensation: paid biweekly, less applicable withholdings
