Send A Letter to Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) Demanding Action Against Dr. Dolansky's Islamophobic Behaviour Online

It has been deeply disappointing to see Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) pediatrician Dr. Gillian Dolansky engage in online behaviour that severely undermines both the Hospital’s commitment to inclusion and its ability to maintain public trust.

Dr. Dolansky has shared online material that compares conversion into the Islamic religion, a faith that animates the lives of almost two million people in Canada, to engaging in the Atlantic slave trade. Other material she shared also seems to suggest that Muslims are uniquely violent and intolerant.

It is difficult to see this behaviour coming from a medical professional responsible for the safety and health of our children. It is up to CHEO leadership to respond clearly to Dr. Dolansky’s actions and to stand up against all forms of hate.

We ask CHEO to ensure patient safety by: 

1.⁠ ⁠Making it publicly clear that CHEO does not support Dr. Dolansky’s online behaviour.

2.⁠ ⁠⁠Take action to ensure that Dr. Dolansky is not working with sensitive groups on CHEO Premises, including patient populations that include Black, Muslim, and Palestinian patients, pending a full investigation. 

3.⁠ ⁠Meet with concerned community members who want to see more accountability from CHEO’s leadership.
