12 Quebec Muslims Just Lost Their Jobs for Wearing Hijab Because of Bill 94: Demand Minister of Justice Act

All public school staff in the province have been banned from wearing the hijab—all staff.

Teachers, principals, janitors, you name it.

Twelve Muslim women just lost their school worker jobs because they want to wear hijabs at work.

Young Muslim women studying to be teachers have put their degrees on hold.

At one school board, parents were even told they can’t volunteer at their kids’ school if they wear religious symbols like the hijab.

At one Quebec school, a hijab-wearing mother was also prevented from watching her son’s basketball game because she wears the hijab.

Welcome to the world of Bill 94, a law that expands on Bill 21 to ban Quebecers—especially Muslims—from being themselves.

Blaming Muslim Women

When asked about Quebec losing its Muslim women teachers, Quebec politician Bernard Drainville replied by saying that it’s their own fault for insisting on their religious freedoms and identity.

This is at a time when Quebec is facing a teacher shortage and a bad economy. Muslim women and their families have been leaving Quebec or are thinking about leaving for good.

Bill 94 was pushed because, apparently, it helps “strengthen secularism.”

We all know that’s not what it’s about. We need to stop this regime of state-enforced atheism.

It’s killing Quebecers’ individual rights and violating their personal freedoms.

The Bill was also passed with the Notwithstanding Clause, which shields it from various lawsuits.

This is another terrible precedent that can spread to the rest of Canada.

That’s what we’re up against. We must win this battle in Quebec so politicians cannot use the same tools to destroy our personal freedoms in the rest of Canada.

You already know that this March 23rd, we will be at the Supreme Court of Canada for the next step in fighting Bill 21, which was also passed with the Notwithstanding Clause. Bill 21 already banned public workers in workers in Quebec from wearing hijab.

Urge Canada to Act

Send a letter today to Minister of Justice Sean Fraser about this growing regime of laws in Quebec that violates the rights of so many people there, including Muslims.

It is important that all Canadian leaders on all levels voice their opposition to the systemic violation of Quebecer's Charter protected rights, particularly when it comes to religious and individual free expression.

You must lead the way this Ramadan so we can win the biggest civil liberties fight of our lifetimes in this country.
