A Culture of Care: Muslim Women’s Praxis Against Anti-Muslim Racism and Colonial Trauma
Free Event - Lunch will be provided
Building on last year’s Manitoba Muslim Women Courage and Leadership Conference, this year’s gathering turns its focus to the Culture of Care cultivated by Muslim women as a powerful response to anti-Muslim racism and the enduring impacts of colonial trauma. This landmark event offers a platform for meaningful dialogue, collaboration, and the sharing of strategies rooted in Islamic ethics and collective care to confront systemic injustice and nurture community healing.
Bringing together community leaders, advocates, professionals from diverse fields, and grassroots organizers, the conference will highlight the Politics of Care as both a form of leadership and a mode of resistance practiced by Muslim women across Manitoba. The day will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, and interactive panels designed to inspire action, foster intergenerational healing, and amplify the voices of Muslim women leaders.
Our goal is to help build a stronger, more inclusive Manitoba through shared experiences and practical approaches, supporting cross-community collaboration grounded in the values of solidarity, accountability, and transparency. These principles, central to both the Culture of Care and Islamic tradition, also resonate widely across faiths and communities committed to justice.
