Stellar (R)evolution is an eight-part workshop series that engages black Muslimah youth ages 18-25 in exploring identity through spoken word poetry and monodrama playwriting. This series is held in partnership with the City of Toronto's SPARK Cultural Hotspot program and with the support of I-Insight. Through the series, we will engage in critical storytelling to explore identity through poetry and theatre as a way of deepening self-awareness, connecting to community, healing, and taking back our stories. Each participant will have the opportunity to contribute to a showcase performance debuting original spoken word infused plays as well as have work published in an anthology documenting works emerging from theseries.
The workshops will occur Saturdays 1-4pm on the following dates:
July 8, 22 August 5, 19, 26 September 2, 16, 30October 7th
Participants will also be featured guest performers at the Children's Peace Theatre's Project Future showcase 'Languages of the Land' on September 22nd 2017.

ABOUT THE FACILIATOR:
Timaj Garad is a multi-disciplinary Artist, using poetry and theatre to bring stories to life. Her art is auto-biographical, working at the intersections of a black Muslim woman challenging injustice, unearthing truths, and healing. As an award-winning Artist and Educator, Timaj Garad has graced over 200 stages and facilitated several arts-based workshops. She whole-heartedly believes in the transformative power of the arts and is dedicated to engaging youth in critical arts education initiatives to uplift, inspire, and build ethical communities
