Join us for an important community awareness session led by mental health advocate Yusuf Faqiri, who will share his family's powerful journey with schizophrenia and the lasting impact of stigma, caregiving, and advocacy.
This workshop will explore common misconceptions surrounding schizophrenia, the challenges faced by families, the connection between mental health and incarceration, and how communities can provide compassionate, culturally sensitive support. Presented by MUHSEN Canada in collaboration with Naseeha Mental Health and Al Huda, this session aims to foster understanding, reduce stigma, and remind families that they are not alone.
Drawing from his family’s experience and his advocacy in memory of his brother, Soleiman “Soli” Faqiri, Yusuf will explore the human impact of schizophrenia, challenge harmful misconceptions, and discuss how our communities can respond with greater dignity, empathy, and care.
