Join us at CAPSUL Studio for a beginner-friendly Phulkari embroidery workshop led by Oakville-based artist Rafia Shafiq.
In this hands-on session, you'll be introduced to the traditional Punjabi embroidery art form known for its vibrant colours and intricate designs.
The workshop will explore the historical and cultural significance of Phulkari embroidery while learning foundational stitches and techniques to create traditional patterns. Participants will get to select their own designs and colour palettes and complete an embroidered hoop to take home.

About the Artist:
Rafia Shafiq is an Oakville-based artist dedicated to preserving and promoting the intricate art of Phulkari embroidery. Through her business, Dhaga Art, she has brought this cherished craft to life in Canada. Rafia collaborates with museums, colleges, universities, textile studios, and art galleries across the Greater Toronto Area, conducting workshops that celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Phulkari embroidery. Known for her custom embroidered creations, she has earned a reputation in the North American market for her one-of-a-kind designs and commitment to reviving this traditional art form.
