From Stories to Solidarity: A Forum for Sharing and Learning is the second phase of our community-based research initiative addressing gender-based violence (GBV) within Canadian Muslim communities. Hosted by the Muslim Advisory Council of Canada (MACC) in partnership with the Centre for Community Based Research (CCBR), this virtual forum continues the momentum of Breaking the Silence – A Day of Healing and Empowerment, our Phase 1 event that brought together survivors, service providers, and community members for collective healing.
This next phase shifts the focus to solidarity-building. We invite you to join us online for a meaningful afternoon of learning, dialogue, and reflection. The event will feature a presentation of key findings and promising practices that emerged from Phase 1, followed by a discussion with community leaders and experts in the field. Together, we will explore how Muslim women’s lived experiences can inform and strengthen GBV services, ensuring they are more accessible, culturally responsive, and survivor-centered.
MACC and CCBR will share their findings on the barriers to accessing GBV services for Canadian Muslim women in Halton Region. This groundbreaking research aims to highlight the promising practices, which support Muslim women in Canada.
Whether you're a service provider, researcher, advocate, or community member, this forum offers a unique opportunity to engage with the latest insights and strategies for change.
