PALESTINE IS A LABOUR ISSUE – MOBILIZE YOUR UNION

The global labour movement is predicated on the idea that workers are connected across borders and represent collective solidarity. Through our unions, rank file union members have a powerful voice to advocate for a liberated Palestine, as we would defend the rights of workers and social justice anywhere. Palestine is no exception.
Throughout the 1970s and 1980s dedicated activists in this country worked together to push unions to oppose apartheid. This wave of change came from relentless organizing following a call from the African National Congress (ANC). They won sanctions and divestment – demonstrating that it is not impossible to replicate this work again.
Today, the call from Workers in Palestine is clear:
Labour federations: Drop holdings in Israel. Every investment is a contribution to oppression of Palestinians.
Workers and trade unionists: Every workplace and every trade union is a place to organise. Mobilise to eliminate Israeli investments from union pension funds and employers’ portfolios, including partnerships with complicit companies.
Build rank and file power to demand that your union leaders push governments for an immediate ceasefire.
Workers along arms supply chains: Workers must intervene and disrupt the flow of arms that sustain this genocide, from weapons factories to transport and military outreach.
JOIN us to take the streets to stand in defence of everyone protesting and resisting Israeli apartheid, settler-colonialism, and Canadian complicity in genocide.
