On December 9th, 1987, an IDF soldier driving a truck struck and killed 4 refugee Gazan teenagers. This was the spark that lit the powderkeg we now know as the first Intifada. Mass civil disobedience, strikes, and networks of workers' self-government sprang up seemingly spontaneously.
The movie "Naila and the Uprising - A story of love, family and freedom" shows how regular working women were launched from political inactivity into leading the struggle, pushed by events that they could not ignore.
Join us for the screening, followed by an open discussion on how the lessons of the Intifada can be used by every class fighter against oppression, in Palestine, Canada, and the whole world.
