Hello and Salaam everybody! We're excited to invite you to our third Mental health community activity! On Sunday the 25th of August we will be taking part in Carleton University's women's swim! This is a chance for all of us to interact outside of the peer support group setting, get to know each other, and build our community while engaging in some physical activity! The lifeguards on duty will be women and the pool is closed off so we can all feel comfortable wearing whatever type of swim-wear we want. We only have 20 spots available for this event so the deadline to RSVP is August 20th. You can do so here: Who is welcome to this activity? We encourage all Muslim women* to reserve their spot before August 20th. Our events are focused on young Muslims between the ages of 15-30, however, if you do not fit this description feel free to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we would be able to welcome you to our space (upon availability). We proudly welcome all minority Muslim groups and encourage participation.
As there are limited spots, if you are planning on joining us please get your tickets on our Eventbrite and fill out our attendance form which can be found online hereAccessibility
For transportation, childcare and any other health accommodations please email us at email@example.com and we will do our best to accommodate everyone's needs.
As women of colour, from marginalized communities, it is important to understand how our struggles are directly intertwined with those Indigenous to the land we work on and that any work we do must actively strive for decolonization. This event is taking place on unceded Algonquin and Anishinaabe territory.
*Empower'em's definition of Women includes trans women, women of colour, non-binary folks assigned female at birth, and any other self-identifying women.
