BANGLA MELA: "Bangla" refers to the Bengali language and culture, and “Mela” is a term used in South Asia to describe a fair or festival. It is commonly used to describe a large gathering of people celebrating their culture, tradition and heritage.
The first Bangla Mela Montreal was held in 2008, produced and organized by BSCF Canada. Bangla Mela is an artistically led celebration of Bangladeshi culture and heritage. It is the one and only Mela in Montreal to commission creativities, and it provides a platform for emerging Bangladeshi Canadian artists as well as bringing traditional and classical art forms to a wider audience.
Critically acclaimed, the Bangla Mela features the best in family entertainment, such as live music, traditional dances, traditional fashion show, stalls, food court, exhibitions, poetry-reciding, kids activities, kite flying, raffle draw, and more!
Mela draws many people from other communities and thus transforms itself into a veritable multi-cultural family event with something for everyone coming to the day-long event.
