Sheikh Vinay studied in several Islamic seminars, including in the Hawza Ilmiyya of London, Hawza Al-Qaim in Syria, and Hawza Ilmiyah of Najaf, specializing in Islamic law and manuscripts under guidance of Samahat al Sayyid Mustafa al Sadr and Shaykh Hasan al Mubaligh. As well as attending directed studies under Sayyid Muhammad Rizvi and Sayyid Husayn al-Husayni al Jalali.
He also has obtained traditional teaching licenses (Ijazat) in hadith from several Scholars including Grand Ayatullah Nasir Makarem Shirazi.
Additional to his Islamic studies, he also has obtained his Masters in History and Philosophy of Religion from Concordia University, and a PhD in Religious Studies from McMaster University.
Shaikh Vinay currently holds the title of Director of Religious Affairs in As-Sadiq Islamic School in Toronto.
Shaikh Vinay is considered an expert on the matter of Lady Fatima (pbuh). He spent 5 years studying this topic, and his Master Thesis was titled " Fatima as a Motif of Contention and Suffering in Islamic Sources ".
