Afghan Canadian Islamic Community (ACIC) is a non-profit federally registered cultural, social and religious organization. ACIC began its activities as a small community association in 1989 in response to the needs of the Afghan families who had migrated to Canada due to the civil war in Afghanistan. Two years later, in 1991, the organization was officially registered with the Government of Canada. ACIC currently provides cultural, social and religious services to about one thousand family members as well as hundreds of non-members. ACIC is run primarily by the Board of Directors with the help of volunteers and financially depends on membership fees and donations.
