Al-Iman School

Al-Iman School, a project of the Islamic Private Board of Education (Ontario), was established and began operations in 1994 as a charitable non-profit religious private school. It has classes from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8 and is registered with the Ontario Ministry of Education.  Academic courses are according to Ontario Ministry of Education guidelines. Both academic and religious education  are provided. 

Classes are offered online as well as in person. Real time Online education for both academic and religious education has been available since March 2020 and teachers and students are very adept at conducting classes in that environment.  

Al-Iman School is registered with the Ontario Ministry of Education as a Religious Private School and receives no Government funding. A tuition fee is charged from parents whose children attend the school to meet some operating expenses.

The Curriculum of the School is managed by the Vice-Principal; a very competent educationalist with more than 30 years of teaching experience in Ontario Schools. The Vice-Principal has Principal’s Qualifications from Ontario, as well as specialization in Librarianship, Computer Education, Early Childhood Education, Literacy, First Steps, Islamic Teacher Education Program and is an educational author.

The School follows the Ontario Ministry of Education Curriculum and uses the Ministry Approved Textbooks for all subjects. The Ontario Ministry Tests (EQAO) are written in Grades 3 and Grades 6. The School also administers the Canadian Achievement Test – 3 (CAT-3) annually.

The School day, at 7 hours, is much longer than the regular school day and allows for Islamic education. The children perform salaat, learn to read the Qur’an, memorize surahs, kalimahs and dua’s. Islamic topics are integrated into the daily curriculum.

Professional Development Days:

Al-Iman School is unique in its Literacy Focus using the State of the Art – First Steps Program, which is followed by many local Boards of Education including the Peel Board of Education. Al-Iman School is a licensed site for the program. All teachers will be involved in workshops on Literacy. These days have been set aside to provide opportunities for the teachers to improve their educational training.

In addition to Inschool Professional Development, the teachers of Al-Iman School are also involved in the Professional Activity Programs developed by the Ontario Association of Islamic Schools.

There is an option for parents to have online religious educ
