Our history, as a non-profit community based organization, dates back to 1973 when we emerged as Polish Immigrant Aid Services-Toronto (PIAST) to respond to the needs of the local Polish community. Our mandate was specific and clear – to support immigrants and their families.
In 1993, to keep up with the growing demand of servicing these groups, PIAST merged with Polish Community Social Services (PCSS) under the name of Polish Immigrant and Community Services.
The name was later changed in 2000 to Polycultural Immigrant and Community Services, to better reflect the cultural and language persity of the clients now being served.
Today, Polycultural is an inclusive and service-focused organization that prides itself in working with all immigrant communities across the Greater Toronto Area.
The organization has expanded to the point that it serves clients in over 40 different languages in our six locations across the GTA. Adopting a holistic approach to the needs of immigrants and their families, our programs encompass orientation, education, employment and family support services. Our knowledgeable settlement workers are accessible at all six sites, and are there to help assess the inpidual needs of every client as well as connect them to the right programs offered by Polycultural or other community services –all in a private and confidential setting.
