My affair with Islamic Art began many years ago… A keen interest in the visual arts from an early age, led to a 4-year Degree in Industrial Design from Toronto’s leading art and design institute – the Ontario College of Art and Design. My inspiration continues to source itself from the love of Islamic Art and Arabic calligraphy, which takes me back to my roots. I combine scripts, bold and strong, clean and intricate with the vibrant colors of nature. The expression of the Arabic script, its freedom, the splendor of its existence and the celebration of its immortality are transferred onto my canvases in a carnival of color. To create my richly illustrated Islamic Art canvases, I work in layers, texturing the canvas as I imbue it with color. I have worked with a variety of media: using inks on handmade paper, painting on porcelain, glass, wood and acrylic on canvas. I have participated in several group exhibits in Ontario and display and sell my artwork annually at the Islamic Society of North America convention which attracts more than 30,000 people every year. I have also undertaken many custom commissions and ship my work across Canada and the United States. I won a special award for excellence in Islamic Art by the Association of Progressive Muslims in Toronto. I have recently put up affordable Islamic Art prints, wrapped canvas Islamic paintings, Islamic Art magnets and greeting cards for purchase on my website.
