Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan Ottawa Chapter

CW4WAfghan is a non-religious, non-political, federally registered charity in Canada. We are Canadians taking action, in partnership with Afghan women, towards improving conditions of human rights, ending women's oppression, and providing opportunities for Afghan women to live their lives with dignity, certainty and purpose. Our goals are to advance education and educational opportunities for Afghan women and their families; and to educate Canadians about human rights in Afghanistan. Donor-funded projects are implemented and managed in partnership with Afghan civil society organizations, and fall within our four field program areas: (1) Community Libraries & Book Development Program; (2) Investments in Public Education; (3) Literacy & Community Development; and (4) Livelihoods Education and Economic Opportunity. These projects include, for example, a number of community schools, village libraries, a girls’ orphanage, in-service teacher training, adult literacy, English language classes, and computer classes.
