Somali-Canadian Education and Rural Development Organization (SCERDO) is a non-profit and registered charity organization under paragraph 149(1)(f) of the Income Tax Act (The Act), which started its formal operations on November 1999 in Canada.
SCERDO’s mission and goal is to promote the educational and developmental needs of primarily Somalis in Alberta, but also broadly across Canada and internationally. SCERDO advocates for economic development, community enhancement, environmental protection, and effective use of available resources.
SCERDO’s vision is to create an effective and dynamic atmosphere in which SCERDO bridges the gap between the community, government and stakeholders to find ways to attend to the various issues impacting community members. As well as advancing education and sustainable development of our community.
SCERDO provides an essential development need of the community while, at the same time, promoting self-reliance and sustainable economic social development (cultural, social, and economic integration).
