On Nov 6th, City of Burnaby Mayor Mike Hurley and City Councillors Alison Gu, Joe Keithley, Pietro Calendino, Daniel Tetrault, Maita Santiago, Sav Dhaliwal, and James Wang passed the resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.
November 7, 2023 – Much of the world has watched with a mixture of shock, horror, dismay, and grief over the last month, as the most recent wave of conflict between Israel and Gaza has caused the deaths of thousands of innocent civilians. Despite calls for a ceasefire, the violence that began with an attack by Hamas-led terrorists on Israel has continued with a sustained air and ground offensive on Gaza by the Israeli military.

OTTAWA, ON, Nov. 7, 2023 Today in Ottawa, Canada's leading humanitarian agencies held a press conference on Parliament Hill to mark the one-month anniversary of escalations of violence in Gaza, Israel and the West Bank. Together, the agencies provided a humanitarian update on the critical situation on the ground, and renewed their call to the Government of Canada to urgently demand a ceasefire, unconditional humanitarian access to Gaza, and the protection of civilians and humanitarian personnel.
A new poll commissioned by NCCM and conducted by Mainstreet Research shows that over 71% of Canadians support the call for a ceasefire.
