What is Nisa Homes (Nisa Foundation)?
Working from a holistic, culturally, and religiously responsive approach, Nisa Homes provides residents with a safe transitional shelter for healing. Our staff provide assistance with the goal of helping residents attain long-term independence and self-sufficiency
The Child & Youth Worker will be responsible for providing child-minding services to the residents at Nisa Homes. Under the supervision of the Childcare Lead, the Child & Youth Worker will play an integral role in supporting the residents on their journey to regain independence and fulfill the steps required to move out.
What You’ll Do:
- Supervise and monitor the safety of the children.
- Develop a weekly childcare curriculum and program to be implemented including but not limited to arts and crafts activities, sports activities, and homework club.
- Provide assistance and support to single moms staying at Nisa Homes in working with behavioral or emotional challenges their children are facing through advice, developing programs, activities, and referrals.
- Accessing resources and supports for single moms and their children to provide referrals when necessary.
- Upgrade and regularly organize children's play area to ensure hygiene and orderliness.

What we’re looking for:
Relevant degree such as Child and Youth Worker, Early Childhood Educator or related field especially with regard to homelessness and vulnerable women and will have a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience. Other combinations of education, experience, and training may be considered.
Able to adhere to highest standards of ethical care and confidentiality policies;
Additional languages are an asset.
Strong understanding of the needs and issues of different social groups, including women experiencing or at risk of homelessness, women fleeing abuse, and newcomers.
