Jeewan Chanicka joined the fourth cohort of TED Ed Educators in 2019.

Jeewan Chanicka is the Superintendent of Schools, Superintendent Equity, Anti-Racism & Anti-Oppression, Toronto District School Board. According to TED Ed, "In his 20 years in education, Jeewan Chanicka has seen how these identities, including race, gender, religion, and ability, and their intersections have been ignored by the educational system— to the detriment of marginalized students. How can educators address the impact that identity has on student success? In this Talk, Jeewan shares his own journey to understanding the complexities of identity and how we can create more inclusive classrooms."
