In 2014, Arab Canadian Chemistry Professor Hind Al-Abadleh spoke at TEDxLaurierUniversity, in Waterloo, Ontario.

According to the Muslim Awards for Excellence (MAX), Dr. Hind A. Al-Abadleh is an Associate Professor of Chemistry at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario. She completed her BSc degree in Chemistry with Honours at the United Arab Emirates University, PhD degree in physical chemistry at the University of Iowa, and postdoctoral training at Northwestern University.

She is currently a Board Member of Nano Ontario and Vice-Chair of the Environment Division of the Canadian Society for Chemistry. She was a member of the founding committee for Laurier’s Centre for Women in Science and served as its first Associate Director from 2012-2015.

In addition, Dr. Al-Abadleh is a firm believer in the role that academic professors play in engaging with the public on issues related to science, role of ethics in addressing pressing environmental issues, and the importance of human diversity to creative enterprises in scientific research.

In recognition of her professional accomplishments and community engagement, Dr. Al-Abadleh is the recipient of Muslim Awards for Excellence (MAX) Platinum Award of Excellence (2016), Canadian Arab to Watch by the Canadian Arab Institute (2016), nomination for the Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest Rogers Women of the Year (STEM category) (2016), and Women Who Inspire Award (Professional category) by the Coalition of Muslim Women of Kitchener-Waterloo (2017).
