Muslim Canadian organizations raising funds to support victims of the Toronto Van Attack

Canada ZakatIslamic Relief Canada, Human Concern International, ICNA Relief Canada, and IDRF are raising funds for the victims of the horrific Toronto van attack that took place on April 23 at Yonge and Finch.

Both organizations are experienced with fundraising in times of disaster internationally and locally.

Canada Zakat, a project of DawaNet, helped raise and distribute over $800,000 to the victims and their families of the mosque shooting in Quebec. According to their GoFundMe campaign page, "Our hearts go out to the families of the victims of today’s tragedy. You are in our thoughts and prayers! Canada Zakat's also exploring other ways of assisting those affected." To donate to Canada Zakat's campaign for the Toronto Van Attack victims and their families, click here

Islamic Relief Canada most recently worked with the Federal government to raise funds to support Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh. According to their LaunchGood campaign page, "We are deeply saddened and offer our condolences to the families of the victims and those injured. Our thoughts and prayers go out to our entire Toronto community. Together, let’s encourage love, tolerance, and unity and extend our support to all those who need it during this difficult time. Human Concern International is also raising funds. According to their website, "Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and the families of the Yonge & Finch incident today. We are deeply saddened by this tragic event that took place a block away from our Toronto office. Thank you to all the brave and courageous first responders who arrived on the scene." To donate to Human Concern International, click here

ICNA Relief Canada is raising funds as well. In a recent message to subscribers, they stated, "There are not enough words to describe how senseless this act was. We stand in solidarity against violence, injustice, and oppression." To donate to ICNA Relief Canada's campaign, click here.

IDRF is raising funds as well. They state on their website that "“IDRF joins with our fellow Canadians and prays for a world that is safe, peaceful and harmonious for all its citizens, regardless of race, religion, geography or ethnicity." To donate to IDRF's campaign, click here.

Other ways you can help:

Sunnybrook Hospital, where 10 of the victims were treated, has made a call for blood donations, as has the Toronto regional outpost of the Canadian Blood Services.
