Muslims Running in Canadian Municipal Elections

Written by
Published in News

This October, cities in British Columbia, Ontario, and Manitoba are holding elections for the positions of mayor, city councillors, and school board trustees.

As municipal elections are in theory non-partisan (not connected to any political party) anyone is free to run, making municipal politics relatively more accessible than either provincial or federal politics where to have a chance of winning, you need to win the nomination to be an offical candidate of a major political party.

We think readers will be excited by the diversity of Muslims, particularly younger Muslims, who are running across the country.

.

Muslim Link has compiled a list of some of the Muslims who are running in each province.
