MAC Youth Centre's Eid Celebration

The Muslim Association of Canada (MAC) Youth Centre is holding Eid Prayer and an all day Eid Celebration on Thursday, September 24th from 10 am to 6pm at 1085 Grenon Avenue.

Muslim Link interviewed MAC Youth Centre’s new coordinator Majed Jarrar about why community members should attend. Here is what he had to say:

MAC wasn't able to hold its usual Eid Festival at the EY centre this year and since it's usually the only full day Eid event in Ottawa, we, at the MAC Youth Centre (MYCentre) stepped forward to offer the Muslim community of Ottawa a full day Eid Celebration, held both indoors at our centre on 1085 Grenon Ave, and outdoors extending to the adjacent park, which we've booked entirely for the day.

.

There are a variety of activities for all ages.

For children, we will have bouncy castles, cotton candy and popcorn machines, face painting, and Wii along with a Balloon artist and the famous Mad Science Show.

For youth, we will have remote-car races, henna, an art workshop, Xbox and PlayStation games

For parents and community members, there will be a bazaar featuring over a dozen local vendors, three food wagons offering a wide selection of cuisines, lots of shade on grass and chairs to watch the children play.

Eid is one of the very few events in the year that transcend language, ethnicity and culture. Attending MAC’s Eid Celebration offers people an opportunity to reconnect with old friends and make new ones in a joyful and positive atmosphere. I encourage young professionals and university students, especially international ones, to not miss this amazing chance to get to know their community.
