Have Something to Give to Refugees? Here Is Where To Go In Ottawa

Written by

People in Ottawa are very generous and have collected tons of clothes, furniture, and household items for refugees coming to the city. But all this generosity has created a problem, where to store all this stuff, particularly as many refugees will not be in a postition to accept these items until they are properly settled in the city.

Fortunately, some local IT professionals have created homeful.ca, an online platform, available in English, French, and Arabic, for people to list the items they would like to donate. The site's tag line is "Store it on Homeful, till it's needed". This way, people can keep items in their own home until refugees actually need them.

For people who have run a clothing or household item drive at work, school, or in their religious institution and need to drop items off, City Councillor Rick Chiarelli has developed a list of organizations accepting clothing, furniture, and household items for refugees and those in need in Ottawa. For the full list, visit here.
