By the blessings of Allah (SWT), we are extremely happy to announce the opening of AMA's Counselling service that will be offered in-person at AMA Community Centre.

Mental Health significantly impacts one's psychological, emotional, and social well-being. Over the course of the pandemic, 25% of the Canadian population aged 18 and older screened positive for depression, anxiety or post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) according to Statistics Canada. Of those screened, 94% reported being adversely impacted by the pandemic as a result of job insecurity and social isolation.

To help our community to rebuild and recover from impacts of COVID-19, AMA Centre is launching the Counselling Clinic as part of the Resilient Communities Fund from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). The project expected to be completed in July 2023, will support vulnerable residents in the community to rebound from social isolation and regain financial resilience through 7 mental health workshops, 12 skills-building and employment workshops and 200 hours of counselling.

.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) mission is to build healthy and vibrant communities across Ontario. As an agency of the Government of Ontario, and one of Canada’s leading granting foundations, last year, OTF invested nearly $209M into 2,042 community projects and partnerships, which included funding for the Government of Ontario’s Community Building Fund. Since 2020, OTF has supported Ontario’s economic recovery by helping non-profit organizations rebuild and recover from the impacts of COVID-19.

We would like to thank the Ontario Trillium Foundation for their support to help us create programs and systems to help our congregants and community to regain autonomy and self-sufficiency.
