Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian (Hijr: 9)
"This Qur'aan has been revealed in seven different ways, so recite it in the way that is easiest for you.” (Bukhari and Muslim)
Today, we live in a world where 1.6 billion people believe that the Quran is the unadulterated word of God. They quote it, memorize it, study it and attempt to live their lives by it. They believe that it has reached them through mass transmission thus leaving no room for error.
This notion becomes quite problematic though when unearthing some basic historical realities. For example, according to Anas ibn Malik, only four people managed to memorize the Quran during the life of the Prophet (peace be upon him). In 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud's opinion, mixing up the words of the Quran was not considered a mistake. Rather, mixing themes such as the verses of mercy with the verses of punishment were impermissible. There were seven known variants that were established in the text of the Quran however, Uthman developed a standardized version for the Muslim world, and ordered all other version to be burned.
These realities along with many others pose serious questions to the common belief Muslims hold about the Quran today.
Join us on Saturday, July 29 2017 from 9 am to 3 pm at Masjid ul-Ansar for a seminar in which Sh. Uthman Khan will take us on an important journey tracing back the phases of the Quran's compilation from the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him) until us today. After attending this seminar, no Orientalist will be able to shake your faith in the Quran again. You will come to see that the compilation process of the Quran was one of the greatest feats in human history. You will come to realize that there is truly no piece of literature on this planet that is comparable to the Quran.
Register today and. Do not miss out!
