Our definition of young women includes trans women, non-binary who were assigned female at birth and any other self-identifying women between the ages of 15-30.We understand that this might be new for most of you, therefore our discussions are designed to ease you into the group, allowing you to share only when you feel ready. We ask that you come with an open mind and heart to listen and share stories in our communities. As an attendee you will also be expected to follow our group's values and guidelines of respect in order for us to ensure and maintain the confidentiality and privacy of all those attending.Group Rules: 1) Show Respect for all: As Muslims, we recognize that many of us come from different backgrounds and therefore may hold different beliefs on the way we practice Islam. Therefore, understand and recognize that only Allah (God) knows what's in all our hearts and there is no place or room to show judgment towards others. Come to the group with a strong sense of respect for all.One of Empower'em's values is build upon Inclusivity. This means, We value diversity of ethnicity, religion, ability, experience, class, orientation, gender, size, and more—and find ways to drive this through every element of our group. Therefore, We will not allow any form of racism, Islamophobia, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, anti-Indigenous sentiments, cissexism, or other toxic and harmful behaviours. You will be removed from the group.2) Practice Confidentiality: A strong understanding in this group is to practice the simple principle that what stories are shared here, stay here and do not leave the group. You may choose to share the knowledge you gain and resources you come across in this group however, it is absolutely important for you to allow others to express themselves without fear of it leaving this space.
