"Recite the Qurʾān in a measured pace (tarṭīl)" (al-Muzammil:4)."Those unto whom We have given the Book and who recite it in the proper way are they who have faith in it" (al-Baqarah:121).The first command of God to the Prophet Muhammad (saw) was iqraʾ, read! While learning about the various levels of meaning of the Qurʾān allows us to deepen our understanding of God's message, improving our recitation of the Qurʾān transforms us into a living archive of the Divine Word, preserving its literal form and structure within our hearts. It is through the countless reciters and memorizers of the Qurʾān that the Holy Text has been preserved since prophetic times. Thus the Prophet (saw) insisted not only on understanding the Qurʾān's meaning, but also on the importance of the excellent reading of the Divine Words: "Whosoever recites the Qurʾān fluently is with the honourable and obedient scribes (i.e. angels), and whosoever recites it with difficulty shall receive a double reward" (Bukhārī and Muslim) Taught by ustādhah Salma Nassri and ustādh Ossama Moujaber,* these weekly sessions will guide you in improving the quality of your recitation and memorization. All levels are welcome. We will try to accommodate as best as possible your individual needs. We are requesting a registration fee of $20 for the entire 12-week sessions.
