The Islamic Society of York Region, commonly referred to as the Islamic Society or ISYR, is a Muslim Community Center in York Region, Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada. It was established in August of 1999.
The Society acquired 33 acres of land on Stouffville Road in Richmond Hill. It was already zoned for Institutional use because the place was originally built as a Day Camp.
The Society provides prayer facilities as well character building, especially for our youth. We want to ensure that Muslim children grow up as upright, honest, humane, caring and compassionate individuals that would act as model citizens. Interaction with other faith communities is an essential part of character building so that they learn to appreciate and respect diversity even while upholding their own Islamic values as true and sincere individuals.
The Center has grown considerably, due to the joint efforts of its staff and the Muslim community. The ISYR now consists of:
A Prayer Hall plus Library
Restrooms and Ablution Facilities
Picnic Areas & Banquet Facilities
Soccer Field, Swimming Pool, , Tennis Courts, Playground
Ample Parking Space
