Pakistani Canadian Shawana Shah has a Masters in Educational Psychology from McGill University and a Masters of Education in Counselling from the University of Ottawa.
Shawana worked with Immigrant Women's Services Ottawa (IWSO) coordinating a violence against women prevention program focused on Muslim communities.
She worked as a Student Parent Support Worker with the Pathways to Education Program with Pinecrest-Queensway Community Health Centre.
She worked closely with the Children's Aid Society (CAS) of Ottawa as the community liaison worker with Muslim Family Services of Ottawa (MFSO). In this position, she counselled Muslim children and parents receiving services from CAS.
She currently works at the Roberts/Smart Centre, an accredited children's mental health centre that specialized treatment and clinical services to improve the lives of youth living with complex behavioural and emotional needs.
Shawana Shah is a Mental Health First Aid Trainer with the Mental Health Commission of Canada.
